BMW has launched the seventh-generation M5 in India at Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom). The new M5 will be imported as CBU.
Powering the BMW M5 is plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time where the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine paired with the M Hybrid system generates 717 BHP and 1000 Nm. To break the power figures: combustion engine makes 577 BHP and 750 Nm, while the hybrid system makes 194 BHP and 280 Nm.
The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and the xDrive all-wheel drive system. The 18.6 kWh battery pack allows a pure-electric driving range of up to 69 km. In electric mode, it can hit a top speed of 140 km/h. The new M5 can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 305 km/h when equipped with the M Driver’s package.
